Dr Lloyd Bowen

About

Lloyd Bowen hails from Treorchy in the Rhondda Valley, but he redeemed himself by marrying a Tenby girl who has family in Llangwm. He is a Reader at Cardiff University and specialises in the history of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. He has written five academic books and many academic articles which cover topics including duelling and violence, puritan radicals, royalist preachers and the beginnings of the iron industry. John Poyer, the Civil War in Pembrokeshire and the British Revolutions appeared in 2020, and a general history of Tudor and Stuart Wales, Early Modern Wales, c.1536-c.1689: Ambiguous Nationhood came out in 2022. He is currently completing a book on another fascinating but neglected parliamentarian; a man who used the dark arts of forgery to secure political power.
