Phoebe Smith

Phoebe Smith is an adventurer, author, editor, presenter, speaker and filmmaker.

By day she is an award-winning travel writer and photographer for a range of publications including The Guardian, Telegraph, Countryfile and Sidetracked, contributor to BBC Radio 4's From Our Own Correspondent, and a presenter and a filmmaker specialising in adventure, travel, camping, gear and the outdoors. By night she is the author of several books including Extreme Sleeps: Adventures of a Wild Camper, Wilderness Weekends: Wild Adventures in Britain's Rugged Corners and the first guidebook to British bothies - Book of the Bothy. She was the first person to sleep at all the extreme points of mainland Britain, by herself, on consecutive nights and in 2017 gave up her Christmas to sleep solo on the '3 Peaks' - the highest mountains in Wales, England and Scotland over three days to raise money and awareness for Centrepoint the young people's homeless charity. It's her ongoing mission to prove that the UK offers adventure to rival anything you'll find overseas and that you don't need to be a beard-sporting, rufty-tufty, I'll-eat-a-dead-sheep-carcass Bear Grylls type to have an adventure!
