Misha Carter Art

Biography

I’ve always had a passion for all things creative and artistic. At twelve I won the SC Johnson children’s art competition with a giant watercolour of our family garden, and later I was proud to have a runner-up painting hung in the Young Artist exhibition at The Mall Galleries in London.

I’ve continued my love for art on and off over many years while raising a family and living in six different countries, learning language and culture and doing charitable work. I continued to develop my creativity in a variety of forms and mediums, including acrylics, pastels, watercolour and mixed media, selling my work mostly online and as commissions.

My art took a more serious turn as an adult on arriving in Wales some years ago, when traumatic events led me to discover Wales as an embracing, mystical and magical place for the creative soul and a haven of like-minded creatives and alternative thinkers. Long walks in nature inspired my eye for small details, and I developed a love for painting on natural materials as well as canvas. I use mostly acrylics and my subjects continue to be nature-related, animals, flowers, birds, landscapes real and imaginary, and a mix of realistic, naïve and whimsical that has become part of my unique style. I discovered the joy of using Welsh slate as a canvas for creating magical places that reflect the fauna and flora of Wales, and developed a love for creating naïve art sculptures. I began selling at local fairs, shops and studios, and as commissions both nationally and internationally.
