Llangwm Literary Festival: 5th Children's Competition - STILL RUNNING
The 2020 Llangwm Literary Festival is not taking place this year due to Covid-19, BUT we are still running the competition.
The 2019 Children's Competition was our most successful so far, with over 400 entries. Writing poetry is obviously very popular, as was the Welsh theme. This year we are bringing things a bit closer to home by asking children to write a Pembrokeshire Poem. This might be based on the landscape of Pembrokeshire, its wildlife, castles, history, people or just life in Pembrokeshire today. In fact, anything that is Pembrokeshire related.
Any type of poem will be accepted eg Haiku, limerick, sonnets, rhyming or non-rhyming verse.
Entries must be HAND WRITTEN in any language and be no larger than A3 size.
No computer text, illustrations or downloads please
There will be three prizes (Victoria Books gift vouchers) in each of the age categories:
Reception to Year 2
Years 3 to 6
We hope to be able to display the winning entries at the Festival and we'll be in touch with winners in respect of their prizes.
Due to COVID-19, the competition is being run online this year. All entries must be sent by email to Penny Reed at firstname.lastname@example.org. Entries must be scanned or screenshots. You can send entries any time from now, and the last date for submission is Friday June 12th 2020.
The judges and I are again looking forward to reading all of the entries; there are some very talented young people in Pembrokeshire and we want to hear their voices expressed in poetry.
